An International Flagship Crafted for the Theatre of Dining
When internationally acclaimed chef Darshan Munidasa — the Sri Lankan–Japanese culinary visionary behind Ministry of Crab, consistently ranked among Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants, and host of Culinary Journeys with Darshan on ETV — decided to open a Singapore flagship, ASDAdesign was appointed as the design firm of choice. Recognizing that authenticity was paramount, Chef Darshan flew Architect Alessandro to Colombo — all expenses paid — for a deep immersion in the restaurant’s original design DNA, ensuring that every detail of the Singapore location would echo the spirit of its birthplace.
Design Concept
This flagship merges the handcrafted warmth of Sri Lanka with the precision and refinement of Japanese design, reinterpreted for Singapore’s tropical context. Conceived as culinary theatre, the restaurant’s open-fire kitchen serves as the stage, with every element — from the tactile surfaces to the precise, ambient lighting — choreographed to heighten the drama of live cooking.
